Morning Musing Over Coffee - Hope

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NIV

When you say a situation or a person is hopeless, you're slamming the door in the face of God. ~Charles L. Allen
Merriam-Webster defines hope in these ways -
1. to cherish a desire with anticipation.
2. to desire with expectation of obtainment
3. to expect with confidence
So, this verse is telling us that God is the God of hope and that by the power of the Holy Spirit we are to overflow with hope. To have hope we have to believe that the promises God has given us are true. And when are we given this hope? When we trust in Him. When we understand that He loves us, and when He says He will bless us He means it. When He says He will take care of us, we do not  need to continue on in our worry. Instead we can expect and anticipate His care for us with confidence. We can live in joy and peace, regardless of what we see around us, because we have hope in the God of hope.

The wings of hope carry us, soaring high above the driving winds of life. ~Ana Jacob
