Discovering Smoothies

One of my Christmas gifts this year was a Black & Decker blender. My old blender broke several years ago and somehow I had never gotten another one. I did fine without one until I started reading recipes for smoothies and then I suddenly really wanted one again. So I was delighted to find one among my gifts this Christmas.
I've made smoothies twice now and we love them. So far I've made our smoothies with frozen berries, bananas, yogurt, low-fat milk and sugar. I haven't really measured anything, just dumped the ingredients in and pressed the smoothie button. Even my pickiest eaters are enjoying the smoothies and I love that I'm getting some berries into kids who normally wouldn't eat them.

As I was browsing on Amazon I realized that there are a lot of recipe books for smoothies out there. Some of my favorites I saw are -

The Complete Idiots Guide to Smoothies

and Smoothies, Smoothies and More Smoothies!

Do you enjoy smoothies? If so, what are some of your favorite recipes? I'd love to try some.

  1. My favorite smoothie to make is one with strawberries, banana, a little nonfat yogurt, some blueberries and maybe some rasberries. It's so yummy and healthy!!
