Last week went to the dogs. This week is for the birds.
We're reading the book A Nest Full of Eggs by Priscilla Belz Jenkins this week at circle time. I like how this book includes realistic art showing children at play, watching the birds and doing other typical daily activities. I also like the way the book explains the life of the robin as well as explores how other birds are both the same and different. After just one day I felt like the kids learned from it and yet there is enough to take in that they will not get bored reading it every day this week at circle time.
Along with this book I printed the folowing poems about birds that we also read each morning during circle time.
This morning the kids enjoyed painting various bird related pictures with Do-A-Dot paint.
Later in the morning we did a simple activity sorting large and small chickens and glueing them on the LARGE or small side of the paper. We also colored pictures of Robins. Austin decided he would like to color a Robin too.
We will be doing a lot of other fun activities this week as we continue our bird theme and I will link them below as we do them.
