Morning Musing Over Coffee - Called To Be a Steward

credit: Michelle Meiklejohn

Everything comes from You and we have given You only what comes from Your hand. ~ 1 Chronicles 29:14

In this chapter David was talking to God about the riches he was dedicating for Solomon to build the temple. This chapter is rich with praises to God, and there is a lot here to contemplate. But what really caught my eye is David's acknowledgement that what he is giving came from God in the first place. David was a rich man and could have become caught up in pride at the riches he had accumulated and a sense of his own generosity in providing for the building of the temple. But instead, he acknowledged the reality that everything comes from God in the first place. He was only using what was God's in the first place to bring honor to God.

It is important for me remember that everything I think I own, the time that I sometimes think of as mine, is really God's and I am only called to be a steward of these resources.

  1. Great word this morning Rose! We would all be better off if we could just remember that. Our walk with God would be a closer more meaningful one if we did. Thanks for sharing God's Word this morning!
