The Walnut Acre Daily - Park Fun, Dirt Cookies and VBS

Walking With the King

Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
~ Ephesians 5:1-2

Outdoor Fun
As we usually do on Wednesday (at least for the summer) we went to the park this morning. I really should have looked at the forecast though before I told them we were going because it was HOT out there. We didn't stay as long as we usually do but the kids did enjoy playing for a little bit.

Before we left CJ took all the nickels out of the change jar so we could buy food for the ducks and the fish.

Amanda's friend, Holly, came with us and also brought her niece, Chloe.

Part of the time Austin and Michael hung out in the shade.

Austin sorted through his coin collection . . .

and Michael took random pictures with my phone.

We went for a walk around the duck pond . . .

. . . and wandered around a few areas of the park . . .

. . . before eating lunch and then heading home.

In the Kitchen
Tonight is theme cookie night for Bible School and our VBS theme is Sonrise National Park. So in keeping with the camp theme the boys and I made Dirt Cookies this afternoon.

Austin's cookies turned out very well but the cookies CJ, Michael and I made spread all over the cookie sheets. I think our dough somehow got a little too thin.

Out and About
Our third night of VBS has been the biggest for our class so far. We've gone from seven kids the first night to fourteen kids tonight. And they've been a wonderful group of kids. It's so fun to work with kids who are engaged and happy to be there. I only got one picture from tonight and it isn't a very good. Here all the kids were together before we broke up into classes and were watching a skit.

Other Notes and News
Doug had to stay late this afternoon at work because of a breakdown. He didn't get to VBS until almost 8:00 because he had to stay on help get the line up and running again. But he did make it and I heard his class was really glad to see him.

Tomorrow should be a quieter day. Michael goes to day camp again  the rest of us (except for Doug who has to go to work) will be home until time to go to Bible School.
