IN THE KITCHEN

 Amanda fixed us hotdogs, corn and applesauce for lunch today. For dinner she and I worked together to make a macaroni and cheese casserole with ground turkey. 

ANIMAL UPDATES

Just a few photos of a couple of our critters hanging out in the yard this morning. Pepper enjoyed her morning playing in the dirt and with the kids. 

YARD AND GARDEN

Austin and I worked in the garden this morning. I planted eggplants, okra and cauliflower and he covered the rows and put stakes at the end of each row. He also helped me cut up seed potatoes to plant.  Some of these things are getting planted a little later than I would have liked but I had used up all my garden space and needed to decide what to have plowed up next. 

WORKING, LEARNING, AND PLAYING TOGETHER

The kids are still enjoying playing in the parts of the garden I haven't planted yet. 

We didn't get anything done in our workbooks today but we did enjoy a game of memory and some reading.

OUT AND ABOUT

I completely forgot that I had a meeting at church this evening until I received a call asking if I was coming because the others were there waiting for me. Thankfully we don't live far from the church so it didn't take me long to get there. It was a short meeting and I was soon home again.

WORKING, LEARNING, AND PLAYING TOGETHER

On the lot next to us there is a house being built and today we got to watch a crane lift sections of the house up to the second floor. It was a fun way to spend our morning. 

The kids also had fun playing in the areas my dad plowed yesterday for our new garden space. They ran and chased each other and dug in the dirt and had a wonderful time. 

And here are a few more pictures from our day. It was busy but it was good. 

OUT AND ABOUT

This evening Michael, Amanda and I went to Food Lion to get a few things. Then when we got back Michael went with Doug to pick up a lawnmower to work on. Amanda spent few hours at my sister's this afternoon and came home with three goldfish that her cousin gave her. They are already some very pampered goldfish!

Morning Musing Over Coffee - Talking to God

The weather was beautiful and Michael and I were sitting on the porch enjoying the Spring weather. I was doing some online work and Michael was just relaxing. As he sat with me he chattered nonstop - about lawnmowers, the neighbor's dog, the neighbor's lawnmower, what time Daddy's coming home, the lawnmower at Lowe's, the rooster, Grandpa's lawnmower - there seems to be a pattern here. In between topics he would sings snippets of his favorite songs. 

It was nice to just listen to what was going on his mind, what his interests are at the moment, and the things he wants to do in the future (mostly ride lawnmowers). And while I have no real interest in riding lawnmowers, I was interested in hearing him talk about it because he's my child and I love him. 

It made me think of my Heavenly Father, and His desire to hear from me. He wants me to talk to Him about what's on my mind, what's bothering me,  what makes me happy. Why? Because I'm His child, He's my Heavenly Father and He loves me!

He would love to hear from you too.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
