The Walnut Acre Daily - Colossians 1:29 and More

Words to Live By

John 10:9-10

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Homeschool Fun

This morning Michael and Lauren watched
Arky Arky Noah Cartoon Song, and God's Promises to Abraham and we read the corresponding readings before we hung the decorations on the Jesse Tree.

Then they also watched Learn Adding for Children and How to Blend Words - Short Vowel U before doing some worksheets.

Austin and Amanda watched a short video called Two Ways to Construe a Sentence for Grammar, in Science they learned about reading nutrition labels and also the health benefits of exercise. Math was Adding Fractions with Different Denominators.

In the Kitchen

Today was another easy day for me in the kitchen. The kids had a choice of bagels, cereal, milk and bananas for breakfast. Then Michael remembered there were leftover chicken nuggets in the refrigerator and wanted some so we added that to breakfast too.

Austin fixed lunch - sandwiches with Steakums and cheese, french fries and applesauce.

We had dinner at church this evening.

Homemaking Joys

Amanda tackled our huge pile of laundry that needed to be folded. I washed some windows and did some cleaning upstairs.

We Are Going

As usual on Wednesday, we spent the evening at church. I took this picture during Family Works when the some of the kids were playing a Memory Verse game.

On My Mind

To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. Colossians 1:29

The last few months this verse has been on my mind nearly every day. In the context of this verse Paul was talking about helping others mature in Christ. But he doesn't claim to be doing this work in his own strength. Instead, because he is doing the work he has been called by God to do He is being energized by Christ working in Him. And that's what I can't stop thinking about. When I am doing the things I know God is asking me to - whether it's teaching lessons at home, creating a home for my family and all those who come in each day, working with kids at church, or writing - I don't have to do it on my own. If I will stop trying to work in my own strength His energy will fill me with the ability to do what He wants me to do each day.

  1. I couldn't help but notice your hubby was up on the stage at church. Is he allowing his inner child to come out? :) Great verse. It's so easy to think we are to do it all in our own power, but we really are to do this through Him. It's the only way.

  2. It's so easy to get caught up in the work itself that we forget the One who enables us to do the work and the One for whom the glory of the work is for. Great reminder and what a busy but happy home you have!
