This is what we've been doing in the garden the last few evenings - pulling, hoeing and tilling to get rid of the weeds. The kids grumbled about having to pull weeds but once they got started they enjoyed it. It's been fun family time, bonding over garden work.
It's been really HOT and dry here the last few weeks and even with running the sprinkler nearly every evening the plants are taking it hard. But they are still producing and I'm happy for that.
The black-eyed peas are coming along very nicely.
Here is most of the produce we've brought in over the last couple days.
And the grapes are beginning to turn purple.
And at the end of one evening of garden work, as we sat relaxing for a few minutes, Michael saw this sunset and wanted me to take a picture.

Your fresh veggies look delicious. I like peppers and tomatoes. Are your cucumbers the English type?
ReplyDeleteYour garden is fantastic. Mine is so puny but the tomatoes taste good. I'm visiting from the Welcome Wednesday hop. I'm a new follower. You can follow my blog at http://www.greatbeautybuys.com. Have a great day.

Your garden looks great! Grapes!!! I want to plant some of those too!
ReplyDelete:)
Your kids enjoyed the weeding? do you rent them out?
ReplyDeleteJust kidding -- what a lovely post about a family pulling together -- pulling weeds, that is! Our weeds are the only things flourishing this summer; it's been so beastly hot and often dry.
Although I just now can hear on my sunroom roof that it is RAINING. Yay!
Reading your blog post brought us luck!
Best wishes, Cass
PS Our grapes are no where near turning purple -- still stubbornly green!
