Roni so badly wants to make friends with Toby. Toby, on the other hand, is having nothing to do with it. I know there are a lot of pictures here but they make me laugh so I decided to go ahead and share them.

Playing in the Dirt and Planting Green Beans
This morning I decided to be smart and get outside in the garden before it got hot. So after the kids had breakfast and I had loaded the dishwasher and started a load of laundry, we headed out.
Before we started planting I enjoyed a cup of coffee and watched the kids play. What a nice way to start the day.
Then we headed on down to the garden.
The dirt was so much fun to play in we almost forgot to plant the seeds. It didn't take long for all the shoes and socks to come off.
Even Roni enjoyed the cool dirt. This innocent face hides a scheming mind and a few minutes later she ran off with Hunter's shoe.
Where are my feet?
I'm digging for treasure!
We finally got around to planting.
Michael wanted a turn at making rows so I let him try. But he was so enthusiastic I feared for the safety of everyone's toes so his row digging career came to a quick end.
No toes (or shoes) were harmed in the writing and photographing of this post and four rows of green beans were successfully planted.

More Planting
Yesterday we planted seeds in starter pots. Today we transplanted some of the plants we bought Monday into the garden.
Because some of our garden plans were derailed we didn't have any corn or peas in the garden like I had planned. But when we went to Lowe's we found some started in flats. I was surprised. I don't think I've ever seen corn and peas started in flats before. We decided to get 2 4-packs of each just to have a few to eat fresh. We also bought watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, zucchini, tomato and pepper plants. So that was our planting project for today.

Spider!
I love critters of all kinds, and anyone who knows me will tell you I'm the first to stop and take a good look a creepy crawlies and have the kids join me.
But last night after the little ones were asleep Austin, Amanda and I were getting ready to settle in and read awhile. Several nights a week I read aloud for an hour. It's something we all three really enjoy.
Anyway . . .
I went to the kitchen first to get a drink of water and when I turned around I saw this . . .
. . . and I screamed.
All I could think was "What if I had stepped on it in bare feet?"
Austin came and caught it for me and put it outside.
I know there are much bigger spiders, but not in my kitchen.
