A Tree Is Nice - Week 2

This is our second week of learning about trees. We really didn't get much done on the theme last week because of Memorial Day and a few other interruptions in the schedule. So I decided to continue learning about trees this week.

We are still reading the book A Tree Is Nice by Janice May Udry each morning at circle time. We are also reading the poem What Do We Plant by Henry Abbey.

On Monday the kids made this apple tree craft and colored a picture of an apple tree.

Tuesday was our Bible craft day so although we read the book at circle time we didn't do any crafts or activities related to trees.

Wednesday we made these coconut tree crafts and colored these tree coloring pages.

For some more tree fun I drew these treetops and traced them onto foam sheets, then cut them out and glued them to craft sticks to make trees. I added playdough, small animals and people from various playsets, and some mini crafts sticks, as well some little googly eyes and let the kids get creative.

Our last tree related activity this week was simply drawing a tree.

It's been a fun two weeks learning about trees. The kids and I have enjoyed the book and the activities.

Next week our story is The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Check back for some fun activities related to the story.
