Colored Water Painting

We did a simple but fun water activity this morning. I filled some empty containers with water and added some food coloring to color the water. Then I set them out on the porch and sidewalk, provided a variety of brushes and let the kids paint away. They loved the colored water.

The food coloring just provided a hint of color and when the water dried I couldn't even see the color anymore so there was no mess to clean up.

It didn't take long for the shoes to come off because it's so much fun to walk through your water painting!

I'm thinking this will be an activity we will do again on a regular basis.

Weaving

I have piles and piles of fabric that have been sitting in storage. I've never wanted to give it away because I just know I'll do something with it . . . eventually.

A few days ago I noticed this baby gate sitting in the garage. The way this house is set up we really haven't needed it but it's a good gate so we just stored it.

So I took the gate, and cut some fabric into strips approximately an inch wide and tied them to one end of the gate. Then I let them have fun weaving the fabric strips through the holes.

Simple and free. My favorite kind of fun.

Outdoor Play

We had a fun morning outside yesteray. The kids are glad to be outside again every day after being stuck inside the first few days of the week because of rain. Here are some of the fun things they were busy with this morning.

Michael enjoyed drawing with sidewalk chalk. I had noticed that the kids weren't playing with the sidewalk chalk much recently but this morning it made a comeback.

Lauren was busy cooking up something good in our outdoor kitchen.

Macy and Tre used the picnic table for a road.

Macy took on the job of mowing down the buttercups.

More fun with wheels

Roni joined the fun for a little. She had surgery Thursday and is wearing the cone on her head to keep her from licking the stitches.

This hole in the ground provides so much entertainment. One of their favorite games is one I call "Stuck." One child pretends to be stuck in the hole and the others come to the rescue. This game can keep them busy for a long time.

Michael decided to water the flowers and soon everyone else wanted to see what was going on.
