Taking Our Indoor Fun Outside

We spent most of the day outside today. Having the tables broadens the possibilities for outdoor activities because now we can bring some of our inside activities out to the tables.

Today I brought out playdough and put it on one table and put the rice and bean tub and some containers on the other container. The kids enjoyed the old activities in a new environment.

This also makes clean up a LOT easier!

Flannel Easter Eggs

Using this picture from DLTK Kids I made a pattern for flannel Easter eggs for the kids to enjoy this week.  I had so much fun making these and the kids really enjoyed playing with them this morning.

We made a few Easter Egg faces.

So much fun!

Counting Blessings

There are so many blessings from this past week. I am listing just a few here as I join with Ann and others in counting our blessings.

~ Safety during the storms on Saturday that produced a tornado only a couple miles from our home.

~ warm sunshine on my face today after a stormy weekend

~ picnics at our new picnic tables

~ goldfinches at the birdfeeder in our yard

~ delicate little wildflowers growing in my back yard

~ blossoming trees

~ the joy of creating something fun for the kids to play with and learn from

~ watching the children at play

Blessings # 67 - 74 as I count to 1000.

Picnic Fun

I mentioned in an earlier post that Doug and the boys had built us some picnic tables. Friday Doug finished staining them but wet weather and damp air slowed down drying. Today we were finally able to use them for the first time. The kids were so excited and could hardly wait until lunch was ready so we could have a picnic lunch.

I have a feeling we are going to be eating outside a LOT this summer.

Easter Coloring Page and Simple Craft

This week with the kids we are focusing on Easter.

This morning we read the story Jesus is Alive and then did a simple craft using pictures related to the story.

As each child waited for his/her turn for the glue stick they colored this picture of a chick hatching from an egg.

It was interesting to me to later hear a couple of the children talking among themselves about the story we read. Sometimes even though they seem like they're not listening, they are really absorbing quite a bit.
