Truth - Five Minute Friday

And now comes the time when writers from all corners gather to write, without too much editing or planning for five minutes on a given word.

This week we were given the option of choosing our own word and I chose the word Truth.

Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth and the life." John 14:6.

He also said "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free." John 8:32

Truth is such a beautiful thing.  Jesus Himself is truth and wherever there is truth there is light and freedom. This is the season when we celebrate truth - born as baby, ultimately bringing life.

Thank you God for truth.

Five Minute Friday : : Dwell

And now comes the time when writers from all corners gather to write, without too much editing or planning for five minutes on a given word.

Today's word is Dwell.

In peace I will lie down and sleep,
For you alone, Lord,
Make me dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8

It's been a hard day. I'm glad it's over. It just seemed like emotions piled on top of emotions all day long and finally exhaustion began to set in.

But it's OK, because at the end of the day, even though it was hard, I know that God is still in control and in Him there is still an underlying peace, even on the hard days.

And now, it's time to sleep, resting, dwelling, in the safety of His love.

Five Minute Friday : : Dance

And now comes the time when writers from all corners gather to write, without too much editing or planning for five minutes on a given word.

Today's word is Dance.

Physically I am very clumsy and do not dance well at all. I seem to have no rhythm and two left feet.

And spiritually when I try to do things on my own it is much the same way. Tripping, falling and many unsightly moves abound, even at my best.

But Oh, when I put my hand in the hand of my Heavenly Father and let Him lead the dance, then, and only then, does the dance become a thing of beauty! Then there is grace and beauty and twists and turns executed with a skill that I could never attain. I am just along for the dance and even when I miss a step He expertly leads me on and fixes the misstep and it seems to simply be a part of the dance.

I love to dance with my Heavenly Father!

Five Minute Friday - Door

Today I'm joining the fun with Kate Motaung and others as we write for 5 minutes on one word. Today's word is - Door.

Door!

I love what a door represents! I often have dreams where I discover a door in a house I am living in and find a whole new room or set of rooms that I never knew existed. And I am so delighted with all the possibilities that have been opened to me by opening this door.

I often wonder how many doors I am missing in my life that would open whole new opportunities for me if I would only see and open them. And sometimes there are things that happen in life that I don't see the purpose of at first and then I realize that God is opening doors into whole new areas of opportunity that I didn't even know existed.

I love doors!!!!

Real - Five Minute Friday

Sometimes I wonder if I know what it is to be real. I wonder if I know who the real me is. I've played do many roles and worn so many hats I sometimes feel lost in the jumble of it all. But maybe each one of those roles and hats is a part of the real me, like puzzle pieces that simply need to be put together in an organized fashion to reveal the true picture. I don't know.

But I do know who does know the real me and I know that He is working daily in my life to polish and refine the real me He had created me to be.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:14

Five Minute Friday - Gathering Memories

Some of the most precious things to gather are memories.

I've been reading old entries in my blog and it brings back so many memories. I'm also reminded of how swiftly time moves on and things change. So I'm gathering memories day by day - memories of sweet smiles, hugs, fun times together, conversations as we gather around a meal, milestones, working hard together.

I'm gathering these memories and making more memories as I thank God for this beautiful, challenging life He has blessed me with.

What memories will you gather today?

Visit - Five Minute Friday

To me the word visit brings to mind warm memories. Memories of large gatherings of extended family who just wanted to be together and visit. I remember the days when someone would simply pull in the driveway, step out to be welcomed with hugs and brought in for coffee because we all wanted to visit. In that time in my life to visit was simply to spend time together  sharing the goings on in our lives, sometime with laughter, sometimes with tears, always with love.

We don't visit much anymore. We post on facebook , tweet on twitter, send a text or email. I think it's time to sit down with someone for a good visit.

If you would like to join this community of writers all writing for five minutes on the prompt of the week please head on over to Heading Home to join in the fun. We write what's in our heart for five minutes without a lot of editing or planning or trying to make it perfect. You can join in the fun by writing, reading, or both.

Five Minute Friday - Delight

It's Friday again and that means I get to link up with The Gypsy Mama for Five Minute Friday. Please hop on over and read what others have written and join in the fun.

 The word today is . . .

Delight!

Just reading the word this morning brought a smile to my face.

I have been blessed with so many things to delight in.

My husband, who encourages me, walks with me, sometimes simply puts up with me, and always loves me.

My children. They teach me, stretch me, and give a purpose to every day.

Blue skies, rainy days, the first Robin of the year, hugs from little people, toothless baby smiles, the smell of fresh brewed coffee.

And more than anything else, the love of God, and the fact that he also delights in me. What an amazing thought. And what could possibly be more delightful than that.

Five Minute Friday - Roar

Won’t you join me in this weeks 5 minute friday challenge at The Gypsy Mama? Here are the instructions from her site.
    1. Write for 5 minutes flat – don’t edit; don’t second-guess. 2. Link back here and invite others to join in. 3. Must: leave a comment for the person who linked up before you – encouraging them in their writing!
OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on:

Roar…

When I think of the word roar, I think of a mamma bear, standing tall with a roar to protect her cubs from harm.

That is the way I feel some days as I look at the four cubs in my who live in my home, as well as the cubs who come in out and daily. They bring out the protective instinct in me and if I see what I perceive to be harm coming their way I feel a roar beginning inside.

And that instinct teaches me something about the love that my Heavenly parent, my heavenly Father has for me. As much as I love and want to protect these children, the Father's love for me and for them is so many times greater is is beyond my comprehension.

Five Minute Friday: A Full Life

1. Write for 5 minutes flat with no editing, tweaking or self critiquing.
2. Link back to The Gypsy Mama and invite others to join in.
3. Go and tell the person who linked up before you what their words meant to you. Every writer longs to feel heard.

Full

My life is full. Full of all the wonderful and sometimes not so wonderful things that mark a life full of love, people, friends, and family.

It is full of little ones with funny stories, sticky fingers, boo-boos and hugs an kisses. It is full of the laughter and wonder of childhood.

My life is full as I walk with my children this journey of growing up, of self discovery, of learning faith in a God who loves them beyond imagination.

My life is full as I walk through it hand in hand with my husband and we learn over again many of the same lessons and truths we are trying to help our children discover.

It is a beautiful, happy, sometimes bumpy life, but it is full of all the things that really matter.

On Waiting

I have never been good at waiting. Waiting makes me fidget and pace. Waiting makes me want to grow wings and fly in the direction of whatever I'm waiting for and simply bring it home, or make it happen.

But waiting is a fact of life and I am learning to live within the waiting. To realize that there is always something around the corner that I am waiting for. But there are also wonderful opportunities right in front of me that I can take advantage of now. There are moments to be lived, sweetnesses to be savored now.

If my focus is always on whatever it is I am waiting for, I will likely miss the beauty right in front of me this moment.

I do not want my life to be spent with a focus on what is ahead of me, just beyond my reach. I want to learn the lesson of waiting peacefully and enjoying the  now.

I guess it's called living in the moment, and this moment is pretty special.

Here’s how the game works: you simply stop, drop and write. Set your words free. Don’t edit them, don’t fret over them, don’t try to make them perfect (as described by Gypsy Mama). And then link
up with all the other 5 minute friday players and enjoy the fun.

I Feel Most Loved When. . . .

Each week The Gypsy Mama gives a writing prompt and the challenge to write for five minutes based on that prompt. This week's prompt is "I feel most loved when."

I feel most loved when . . .

. . . somehow this is a hard question for me to answer.

I guess one of the things that makes me feel loved is when others allow me to pursue the things that interest me - like time to read, time to write, and time to just think.

It makes me feel loved when my family shows that they are interested in what I do. When they take time to read my blog, to give me feedback, and to listen me when I have ideas that I want to share.

I feel loved when others allow me to be me.
