Contented Bodies, Discontented Minds and More

WORDS TO LIVE BY

Lazy hands make for poverty,
    but diligent hands bring wealth.

TODAY'S QUOTE

We have produced a world of contented bodies and discontented minds. ~ Adam Clayton Powell

ON MY MIND

In a country where even many of the poorest live in a state of absolute wealth compared to the rest of the world, I wonder if many times we have become complacent. We have opportunity at every corner if we are willing to apply ourselves and yet are willing to cruise along in ease while our minds cry out against our poverty. The poverty we experience may not be material or financial but of experience, of learning and wisdom, of beauty and joy, relationship with God, and of blessing others.

Jesus said
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
John 15:5

When we are in Him, His creativity and power run through us and we have access to so much, leading us to lives richer than we could ever imagine.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26

IN THE KITCHEN

For breakfast this morning we had cereal with milk, bananas and apple juice. For lunch we had Crunchy Taco Hamburger Helper, corn and pineapple slices. For snack this afternoon we had animal crackers and milk. And for dinner I fixed sausage squash casserole (loosely based on this Creamy Butternut Squash Casserole recipe), Roasted Carrots, fruit cocktail, and Onion, Garlic, Cheese Bread.

HOMESCHOOL

SOME OF THE RESOURCES WE USED TODAY

Austin and Amanda

Our Scripture reading today was Hebrews 4.

Michael

Michael seemed to feel some better today so we did some his schoolwork. I didn't have him work in his workbook since that is hard for him on a good day. But we did get in reading, Bible and some science.

AROUND THE HOUSE

I did two loads of laundry today, swept the floors and kept the dishes washed up. Austin did the daily cleaning in the upstairs bathroom. Amanda did the daily cleaning in the downstairs bathroom and worked on rearranging her room. Michael took out the trash and vacuumed the living room and playroom.
