ANIMAL UPDATES

I just had to share these pictures of my sweet, beautiful niece with her sweet cute puppy!

YARD AND GARDEN

I got these radishes from our garden today. I cleaned them and we had them with our dinner this evening. So yummy!

WORKING, LEARNING, AND PLAYING TOGETHER

I spent a large part of the day at my sister's. Here are few pictures of our fun there.

ON MY MIND

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

This passage has been on mind this evening. Lots of things have been written about the meaning of the different parts of the armor of God and their application.  But there are two things in particular that are standing out to me this evening.

The first is that our enemy is not flesh and blood. It is against powers of darkness and spiritual forces of evil. But they are so good at making it seem like the person in front of us is the enemy that we are often fooled. And then the real problems begin. Because when the enemy can get our eyes off Jesus and on each other we begin to lose the battle.

The second thing that stood out to me is that three times in this passage it says STAND. Not fight, not argue, not go to battle, and not run away - simply stand. It takes strength to stand when every instinct screams fight or flight. And this strength comes from knowing we are fully outfitted in His armor and because of His mighty power we can withstand every fiery dart and every sneak attack. And in the standing comes victory!
