The Walnut Acre Daily - Gardening, Learning and Living

Walking With the King
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us -
yes, establish the work of our hands.
~ Psalms 90:17

Today's Quote
The measure of a man's real character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out. ~ Thomas Babington Macauley

In the Garden
Austin, Amanda and Holly all three worked on pulling weeds out of the carrots and CJ worked on pulling the weeds from the area where he wants to plant corn. Here he is tossing the weeds he pulled over the fence.

On Our Nature Walk

I love this picture! And I do know Michael's clothes do not match, but he picked them out and he changes clothes so many times a day I decided not to worry about it. Most days he changes about four times - because they got dirty, because he spilled a drop of water on them, because he got hot or cold, or for any other reason he happens to think of.

In the Kitchen
CJ made us spaghetti and meatballs for lunch.

For dinner we had boiled cabbage, potatoes and sausage.

We Are Learning
We watched Part 2 of the Bambi movie this morning and then did  beginning sound forest animal papers. We also did a letter Ii phonics page.

This afternoon CJ and Michael and I read a book and then played two rounds of Sight Word Bingo. We also did these sight word and math worksheets.

We Are Reading
Here are the books the kids and I read together today.

There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly

Rumpelstiltskin

The Cat in the Hat Comes Back

Arthur Tricks the Tooth Fairy

Out and About
This evening Austin, Amanda and Michael are at their grandparent's house. CJ and I went to the store to get hotdogs, chips and watermelon for our backyard campout tomorrow evening. Doug has gone to help a friend of ours who had a tire blowout on interstate while she was on the way to work this evening.

Other Notes and News
Today has been a really good day. The kids were happy and things went smoothly.

This afternoon a family came out to visit us and talk about having their 2 1/2 year old son start coming part time for daycare. It was a good meeting and tomorrow we're looking forward to welcoming Damien into our little group here.
